Viola sororia
This beautiful violet has a wide range and is an early spring bloomer, blooming from March to May. Flowers are a vibrant blue to purple and visited by the Andrena violae, a native mining bee. This bee is a specialist, known to only visit the flowers of violets. These violets are often found in open woodlands and edge habitats, but because they’re so adaptable, you may also find them spreading across lawns. This native plant is a host plant to fritillary butterflies.
