Physocarpus opulifolius

Native to Eastern North America, Ninebark is a fast growing shrub in the Rose family. This tough plant tolerates a wide variety of growing conditions. Leaves are green and oval to ovate in shape. It produces clusters of white to pinkish flowers and stay in bloom for 2-3 weeks. Its flowers attract a wide variety of insects. The foliage also provides as a host plant to several moth species. This shrub makes a great option to create a native hedgerow. In the wild, they’re often found in thickets, bluffs, streambanks and edge habitats.
